Bermuda footballer Reggie Lambe has paid tribute to team-mates, supporters and his family in a personal statement reflecting on his international career.

Lambe, who has retired from national team duty as the island’s most-capped player, said it has been “an honour every single time” he represented Bermuda.

“From my debut as a young kid to the Gold Cup, World Cup qualifiers, and 60-plus caps later… it’s been an honour every single time I’ve put on that Bermuda shirt,” the midfielder wrote on social media.

He described representing Bermuda on and off the pitch as “one of the greatest blessings” of his life and thanked those who supported him throughout his career.

“To my friends and family, thank you for riding with me through every high and every low,” the 34-year-old said. “Your support has been very rewarding.”

He also praised his team-mates. “You all helped make this journey unforgettable,” he said. “Sharing the pitch with you is what made every camp, every game, every moment so special.”

Lambe added he had “always worn that Bermuda crest with pride” and would not change “a single part” of his time with the national team.

“I’ve loved every moment of it,” he said.

Lambe played his final match for the national team against Curaçao at the Flora Duffy Stadium last Friday, bringing an end to an 18-year international career.

He was an unused substitute in the 2-2 draw away to Trinidad and Tobago in Port of Spain on Tuesday as the island brought the curtain down on the final round of the Concacaf World Cup qualifiers.

He made his debut for Bermuda in 2007 at the age of 16.

Lambe has played for clubs including Ipswich Town, Cambridge United, Mansfield Town and Toronto FC.
