Micah Franklin has reflected on his silver medal win at the recent Caribbean Area Squash Association Senior Championships in Guyana.

Franklin, director of squash at the Bermuda Squash Racquets Association, was defeated 11-5, 7-11, 11-4, 11-4 by Khamal Cumberbatch, of Barbados, in the final.

“I’ve now been attending CASA for 19 years, and I have to say, 2025 Sr CASA goes down as my most memorable yet,” Franklin wrote on social media.

“Second in the Caribbean. My highest finish. How I got there goes down as one of my proudest moments as a player.

“After being pushed to breaking point in the quarters [narrowly sneaking by].

“I was cramping uncontrollably, not able to sleep, and unsure how I’d be able to play my semi-final, but somehow, I managed to find a way to win.

“The final was always going to be tough, and I lost to the better player.

“He deserved it. I couldn’t keep making the tough movements I needed to, and he exploited that.”

Franklin also highlighted the experience of competing as a father for the first time at CASA.

“My first CASA as a dad. Navy came with us, which was a bit of a debate,” he added.

“I was worried about the busy schedule, hot climate, and disrupted routine, but Eilidh was adamant.

“The schedule was hectic, conditions were hot, and she often napped on the go.

“Stepping off the court and seeing Navy’s little face in the crowd made me immediately forget about it all.

“There’s a level of selfishness you need to perform at the highest level. But being a dad really puts that into perspective.

“The results don’t seem to matter as much.”
