Richard Oduntan Bermuda Dec 3 2025 xfbHOME, the registered charity working to end homelessness in Bermuda, has appointed Richard Oduntan to its Board of Directors.

A spokesperson said, “Dr Oduntan is the founder and CEO of Re2 Capital, a Bermuda-based specialist in climate risk transfer. He and his family also run the Hamoye Foundation, which is dedicated to AI education and research with a focus on Africa.

“Before launching Re2, Oduntan served as chief executive officer of Nephila Climate, where he built and led a pioneering climate risk transfer fund manager. With more than 20 years of experience in climate finance and risk transfer, he has designed and executed innovative transactions that have financed numerous utility-scale renewable energy and storage projects and helped protect millions of farmers from climate-related perils.

“Oduntan holds a PhD in management science and financial engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada. He is married with two children and is an avid recreational footballer.”

Arthur Wightman, Chair of HOME, said: “We are delighted that Richard is joining our Board. As we work to enhance how we use data and analytics to better support our clients, his expertise will be pivotal. Richard’s deep experience in risk management will also strengthen our ability to navigate the wide range of risks we face as an organisation.”

A spokesperson added, “Founded in 2021, HOME works to ensure that individuals and families experiencing homelessness receive shelter, healthcare and social services; to prevent new episodes of homelessness; and to advance a whole-system, data-driven approach to ending homelessness in Bermuda.

“HOME collaborates with the Bermuda Government and partner agencies to strengthen the availability and quality of data relating to the local homeless population. Through its Housing First programme, HOME provides housing and tailored support to help people return to sustainable, independent living.

“As of the end of last year, HOME had identified 1,101 people experiencing homelessness in Bermuda. In 2024, the charity onboarded 306 new clients and launched an integrated case-management system now being adopted across the wider social-services network.”

“HOME is tackling the critical issue of homelessness in Bermuda with compassion, data-driven insight, and genuinely innovative solutions,” Oduntan said. “I’m honoured to join the Board to support this work and to ensure that safe, dignified housing is within reach for everyone in our community.

“What drew me to HOME is their belief that homelessness in Bermuda is not inevitable, and that with the right partnerships and ideas we can end it. I look forward to working alongside the team to scale practical, sustainable initiatives that don’t just manage homelessness, but help to eradicate it.”

Denise Carey, CEO and executive director of HOME, said: “Richard’s deep commitment to innovation, coupled with his understanding of how data can drive meaningful social change, makes him an invaluable addition to our Board. His experience will help strengthen our ability to deliver life-changing support to those who need it most. We are grateful to have him join us as we continue building a Bermuda where homelessness is rare and brief.”

A spokesperson added, “On the HOME Board, Oduntan joins Wightman and Carey, as well as Curtis Dickinson, executive adviser, Bermuda International Long-Term Insurers and Reinsurers [BILTIR]; Michael Frith, senior counsel, chairman [Corporate Services], Carey Olsen; Rosemary Jones, chief communications officer, Mosaic Insurance; Scott Pearman, CEO, Bermuda Hospitals Board [BHB]; Dr. Tiffanne Thomas, founder, Transitional Community Services, and chief operating officer, The Family Centre; and Stacey-Lee Williams, executive director, Citizens Uprooting Racism [CURB].
