Friends of Hospice, the charity that has provided support to Agape House Bermuda’s only hospice for the past 31 years, has officially changed its name to Compassionate Care Partners to “better align with its mission and organizational growth.”

A spokesperson said, “The new name embraces the care ethos that the organization opted to select, The Eden Alternative, which revolves around the concept of person- directed care that supports the whole person, upholds their right to a life full of purpose, connection, empowerment, and possibility… regardless of age or changing abilities.

“Although the organization will be offering a broader range of services, its dedication to supporting and developing palliative care in Bermuda is unwavering.”

“The vision of the charity is to ensure ‘Exceptional and unconditional care for all’. Each part of our new name is reflective of various key elements that our community can expect from us; compassion, care, and partnership. These are all elements that we should receive when care is being provided,” Jennifer Mahoney, Executive Director stated.

The spokesperson said, “The name change comes just over a year following the groundbreaking of what will be a multi-purpose Care Centre that is being constructed by the charity which will be called the Woodland Grove Care Centre. The Care Centre will provide a myriad of services including residential care for seniors, palliative and hospice level and community services.”

“This change marks yet another exciting new chapter for our organization,” said Chairman, Zach Moniz. “It better represents who we are today, where we’re headed in the future and our commitment to enhancing local care.”
