Jan 24: RBR Coast Guard To Host Open House

The Royal Bermuda Regiment Coast Guard will host an Open House on Saturday 24 January, inviting the public to get a behind-the-scenes look at how the service helps protect Bermuda’s waters.

A spokesperson said, ““The event will take place from 1000 to 1300 hrs at the Coast Guard Facility, Scenic House, 35 Malabar Road, Boaz Island, and is a free event, open to the public.

“Visitors will have the opportunity to tour Coast Guard patrol vessels, view Operational Support Diver equipment, and see demonstrations of the Coast Guard’s Unmanned Systems [drone] capability, alongside a range of family-friendly activities and hands-on experiences. Demonstrations will be weather dependent.”

Speaking about the event, Maj Patterson said: “This Open House is an opportunity for the public to meet the people behind the mission and to see, first-hand, the capabilities we use every day to protect Bermuda’s waters. From the air to below the surface, our teams work year-round to ensure maritime safety, and we’re proud to share that work with the community.”

The spokesperson said, “The Open House aims to strengthen public understanding of the Coast Guard’s role in maritime safety, search and rescue, and environmental protection, while celebrating the close connection between the service and the community it serves.

“All ages are welcome.”
