Met Opera Presents ‘Fidelio’ This Sunday

Beethoven’s ‘Fidelio’ will be shown at BUEI this Sunday [Jan 25] as part of the Met Opera Live in HD series.

A spokesperson said, “Don’t miss opportunity to see Beethoven’s only opera, courtesy of the New York Metropolitan Opera’s Met: Live in HD [2024-25] [on film] in Bermuda series. Beethoven’s Fidelio will be showing at BUEI at 5pm this Sunday in German with English subtitles, approximately 3.25 hours.

“In Beethoven’s gripping drama Fidelio, the ‘remarkably luminous’ soprano Lise Davidsen stars as Leonore, one of opera’s most courageous heroines, who risks everything to save her husband from the clutches of tyranny. Tenor David Butt Philip is the political prisoner Florestan, alongside bass-baritone Tomasz Konieczny as the villainous Don Pizarro, veteran bass René Pape as the jailer Rocco, and soprano Ying Fang and tenor Magnus Dietrich as the young Marzelline and Jaquino. Conducted by Susanna Mälkki.
