The Bermuda Cricket Board has concluded its 2026 Athene Pee Wee “Have-A-Go” Cricket Program, wrapping up five weeks of youth cricket that delivered 242 player interactions for children aged 5 to 7 through skills sessions, games and introductory matches, supported by continued sponsorship from Athene.

A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Cricket Board [BCB] has concluded its 2026 Athene Pee Wee “Have-A-Go” Cricket Program after five weeks of youth programming that recorded 242 player interactions. This year’s program once again brought together Bermuda’s youngest and most enthusiastic cricketers—ages 5 to 7—for weekends of learning, confidence-building and fun.

“The 2026 program drew strong weekly attendance as children learned introductory cricket skills through batting and bowling stations, movement games, teamwork challenges and mini-matches. Parents, guardians, coaches and volunteers helped create a festive, family-centered atmosphere throughout the program.

“BCB extends a heartfelt appreciation to Athene, whose four years of continuous sponsorship have been key to delivering a high-quality, accessible program for Bermuda’s youngest learners. Athene’s ongoing investment in grassroots cricket demonstrates a deep commitment to Bermuda’s youth, community wellbeing and the long-term growth of the sport.

“The Pee Wee “Have-A-Go” Cricket Program has long served as one of Bermuda’s most effective entry points into the sport and the first steps into a national cricket future. Many of today’s U11, U13 and U15 players were first introduced to cricket through this very program.

“Beginning April 13, BCB will launch its Pee Wee Cricket in Schools Program, which will bring cricket instruction into classrooms and physical education programs across the island. This school-based approach will help allow BCB to reach a wider and more diverse student population, deliver curriculum-aligned skills, provide more consistent engagement and strengthen Bermuda’s long-term development pathway. Athene will also sponsor that initiative. The program aims to reach 750 students by June 30.

“The BCB also thanks the coaches, parents, volunteers and the BCB Youth Committee, led by first Vice President David Horan, for their support of both programs.
