Football: All-Star East vs West Match Results

The East and West teams split victories in a series of school football matches, with the East winning both girls games and the West claiming the two boys contests.

A spokesperson said, “The first match of the day saw the east overcome the west 6-1 in an entertaining primary school girls match. Somersfield Academy’s Molly Morton led the east with a hat trick. The east also got goals from MSA’s Rhiannon Rushe, Francis Patton’s Amira Whitter and Somersfield’s Myla Desjardins. The west goal was scored by Saltus Grammar School’s Sofia Cooper. The MVPs for the match were MSA’s Tamera Smith for the east and Warwick Academy’s Ava-Rose Richardson for the west.

“The east were victorious again in the middle school girls game with a 2-1 win. Melah Rutherford of the Whitney Institute gave the east a 1-0 early in the first half. Sandys Secondary Middle School fist year Zaya Cann-Berkley equalized for the west before a late own goal sealed the win for the east. Both Rutherford and Cann-Berkley were named MVP for their respective teams.

“The tides turned in the Primary School boys match with the west winning 3-1. Saltus Grammar’s Declan O’Sullivan opened the scoring with a long range free kick. Warwick Academy’s Kash Butterfield doubled the lead in the second half before West Pembroke student Karter Riley put the game out of reach with a third. Harrington Sounds Maceo Hunt Woolridge added a late consolation goal for the east team. Defender Royce Tyrrell from MSA won MVP for the east while Maze Darrell’s heroics in goal earned the Bermuda Imstitute goalkeeper MVP for the west.

“The west continued their winning ways in the senior boys match with a hard earned 2-1 win. Warwick Academy forward Jayden Smith opened the scoring for the west early in the first half. Berkeleys Logan Viera doubled the lead with held until the break. A long range effort from CedarBridge Academy forward Xave Smith gave the west a glimmer of hope but the west held on to win 2-1. Hard working midfielders Amir Weller from Berkeley and Kydan Browne from Saltus earned them bother MVP honors for their respective teams.”
