NAB Welcomes COA Reviewers For Accreditation
The Nonprofit Alliance of Bermuda [NAB] welcomed six Council on Accreditation reviewers for site visits as part of its accreditation programme, marking the first international visits since before the COVID-19 pandemic.
A spokesperson said, “The Nonprofit Alliance of Bermuda [NAB] is pleased to announce the return of international accreditation reviewers from the Council on Accreditation [COA]. Six COA reviewers visited the island last week to conduct site visits as a part of NAB’s accreditation programme. This marks the first time international reviewers have conducted site visits since before the COVID 19 Pandemic.

“NAB’s accreditation programme, is guided by the Bermuda National Standards Committee [BNSC], and assesses internationally validated best practice standards using a peer review model. Local Bermudian reviewers are paired with international reviewers to assess whether nonprofits meet criteria outlined in the COA standards. This collaborative approach integrates global expertise with local insight, ensuring organisations are evaluated against internationally recognised standards while remaining grounded in Bermuda’s service delivery context.”
Founding BNSC coordinator and current BNSC Committee Member, Nadine Lapsley Dyer noted, “In 2005, BNSC established a formal partnership with the Council on Accreditation to operate the first international COA accreditation process. A core part of that agreement was the use of trained volunteer peer reviewers to ensure objective, internationally recognised assessments while reflecting Bermuda’s local context. These reviewers are experienced professionals working in accredited agencies and bring valuable expertise to the review process. This long-standing approach continues to underpin the strength and credibility of accreditation in Bermuda.”
Nonprofit Alliance of Bermuda Director of Operations, Dr. Aria Bean added, “The Nonprofit Alliance of Bermuda is pleased to re-establish the formal partnership with the Council on Accreditation. The pairing of local and international peer reviewers strengthens the integrity and objectivity of the designation process while reinforcing our commitment to internationally recognised standards of best practice and local capacity building.”
The spokesperson said, “The Nonprofit Alliance Certification and Accreditation Service supports Bermuda’s nonprofit organisations in strengthening governance, service quality, and organisational sustainability, helping to ensure the integrity of our community-oriented services which are being publicly funded.”
