Phillips Wins Matches At Liberty Tennis Complex
Bermudian Daniel Phillips secured two victories for Tulane University on Saturday, though the Green Wave ultimately fell 5–2 to No. 63 Liberty University at the Liberty Tennis Complex.
He opened the dual match in the number one doubles position alongside partner Luc Nisbet. the pair defeated Liberty’s Rodrigo Santiago Arraez and Guy Vorwerk 6–1. Despite the win on court one, Liberty claimed the overall doubles point by winning matches on courts two and three to take a 1–0 lead.
In singles play, Phillips competed in the marquee number one slot against Arraez, who has held an ITA Atlantic Region ranking as high as No. 13. Phillips won the match in straight sets, taking the first 6–4 before finishing the second set 6–0.
The victory provided a point for Tulane, but the Flames secured wins in the remaining five singles matches to improve their season record to 8–7.
