Gabriella Arnold Sets Belize Race Record
Gabriella Arnold set a course record to win the 35th PUMA Women’s Cross Country Cycling Classic in Belize.
Arnold completed the 71.5-mile route from San Ignacio to Belize City in 3hr 03min 15sec, breaking the previous record of 3:07:29 set by Mexico’s Brenda Aguayo in 2007.
The Bermudian finished nine minutes clear of Mexico’s Mariana Valadez Ortiz, who placed second in 3:12:38. Belize’s Kaya Cattouse was third and also won the Masters category.
Arnold received the winner’s trophy and a $3,000 first-place prize.
