Youth Teams Continue Tropical Rugby Games
Bermudian youth rugby teams faced significant challenges during the second day of the Tropical Rugby Tournament.
The Under-14 boys’ division moved into Consolation Pool C fixtures following a difficult opening day. In their first match on Sunday, Bermuda faced Golden Eagle Rugby. While the Bermudian defense held firm in the early stages, Golden Eagle secured a [29-7] victory through expansive play.
The second match against Gorilla Rugby Black saw the Bermuda squad limited in possession. The American side dominated the breakdowns, resulting in a [34-7] win over the islanders. In their final game of the afternoon, the Bermuda boys scored two tries but ultimately fell [31-10] to USA West Blue.
The U14 girls’ team, competing as the Bermudianas, entered the Championship semi-finals against USA West. Despite a competitive effort from the Bermuda side, the Americans utilized superior pace to secure a [24-7] win, moving the Bermudianas into the bronze medal match.
In the third-place playoff, the Bermudianas faced the Celtic Barbarians of Canada. The Canadian defense limited the island side to a single converted try. The match concluded [27-7] in favor of the Barbarians.
The Bermudians ended the tournament in fourth place overall.
