Anglican Diocese’s Bermuda Day Message
[Bermuda Day message from Racial Justice Committee of the Anglican Diocese of Bermuda]
Almighty, Ever-living and Ever-loving God, on this Bermuda Day, which coincides with the coming of Your Holy Spirit at Pentecost, we celebrate that through the redemptive grace of our Savior Jesus Christ, You inspire all living things. By Your power, You shape the heavens and earth and move across the waters. Pour upon us Your flames of fire as on that first Pentecost; kindle within us love, courage, and compassion for our fellow beings; breathe in us that which invigorates and renews the earth.
Let that same Spirit continually be evident in Bermuda Today and throughout our Heritage Month of May. Unite us in our common purpose; heal our divisions; purge our hearts and souls of discord, hatred, and racism; and purify us for your purposes. Assist us in embracing one another as one people made in Your image and likeness. Teach us to accept all cultures and ethnicities, and those who have yet to know you.
Open our eyes to the beauty and bounty of Your creation in this land of Bermuda—its birds: the Cahow, the Cardinal, the Kiskadee, the Longtail; sea creatures: turtles and skinks; our flowers: hibiscus, Match-Me-If-You-Can, and prolific Oleanders; and our renowned Bermuda Cedar, celebrated for its beauty, durability, and fragrance. May we treasure our land, circled by distinctive pink sands and colourful turquoise waters, cradling our magnificent shores. Bestow Your blessings upon our celebrations on Bermuda Day 2026. Keep safe all who parade, all who race, and all who spectate. Allow peace and tranquillity to be evident on the main and Cluster Islands of Bermuda. Guide our leaders, endow them with wisdom and understanding, and grant our families Thy love and peace that passes all understanding.
May Your Holy Spirit be with all who inhabit these Isles — by Your power, enable us to flourish in justice, in fairness, and in Your righteousness, and in the beauty of the creation that surrounds us.
May the power and presence of Your Holy Spirit guide us now and always. May Your love unite our hearts, Your wisdom lead our paths, and Your righteousness shine ever brighter on Bermuda and her people, today and evermore.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord
Amen
