Athene Youth Kickstart Cup Returns In October
The Athene Youth Kickstart Cup, a preseason football tournament for boys’ and girls’ youth teams, will be held on October 9–11 at the National Sports Centre.
A spokesperson said, “The tournament is open to teams in the U7, U9 and U11 divisions. Around 1,000 players participated in last year’s event.”
“Sports have a way of bringing people together,” said Natasha Scotland Courcy, CEO and General Counsel of Athene Life Re. “The response to last year’s tournament showed the energy behind youth football here in Bermuda, and we are excited to see even more young athletes take part this year.”
The spokesperson said, “The inaugural tournament drew support from local and international football professionals. Leslie “Tiger” Fitzpatrick, former Trinidad and Tobago national team player and current Head of Pro Player pathway at the New York Red Bulls, delivered a keynote address at the event, led a skills session and met with players and their families. Bermuda professional footballer Nahki Wells shared a welcome message for participants and contributed signed merchandise for players. Ross Embleton, Head of Talent ID at West Ham United Football Club, helped with the skills session, presented trophies and connected with Bermuda’s football community.
