Bermuda Rugby Team Compete Against Cayman

The Cayman Islands national rugby team defeated Bermuda 52-12 in a Rugby Americas North interregional test match under the floodlights at the National Sports Centre North Field.

The Cayman Islands built a 24-0 lead late into the first half by consistently breaking through the Bermudian defensive line.

Bermuda scored its first points of the match minutes before halftime. Rory O’Kelly-Lynch powered over the line for a try, and Ja’kee Simons kicked the successful conversion to bring the score to 24-7 at the intermission.

The Cayman Islands extended their advantage early in the second half. Utilizing set-piece dominance, the visitors scored three unanswered converted tries to increase their lead to 45-7.

The Bermudian side responded in the final quarter of the match, working through the visitors’ defense to score a second try. The subsequent conversion attempt was unsuccessful, moving the score to 45-12.

The Cayman Islands scored the final points of the fixture, crossing the line for a try and adding the conversion to finalize the 52-12 scoreline.
