Deloitte Open Tennis Tournament Gets Underway
The Deloitte Open tennis tournament began at Pomander Gate Tennis Club with matches played across multiple divisions.
Scott Redmond advanced in both singles and doubles competition.
In the Men’s A singles round of 32, Redmond defeated Nicholas Cooper in straight sets. Redmond later teamed with Tariq Simons in the Men’s A doubles quarter-finals, where they defeated Ryan Kronenberg and Chase Mccrimmon.
Mccrimmon recorded a win earlier in the Men’s A singles round of 32, defeating Tristan Pettit in a match decided by two tie-breaks.
Numair Khan also advanced in the Men’s A singles after defeating Kronenberg, while Jeffrey Allen Bunge progressed in the Men’s B division after defeating Alex Yung while conceding one game.
In the Women’s A round of 16, Chloe Mcbrearty defeated Kate Pursell without dropping a game.
Richard Mcbrearty was defeated in the Men’s B singles by Nicholas Butterfield in straight sets.
Lee Terceira advanced in the women’s division with a win over Alexcie Cherrie Burrows.
In the over-45 doubles division, Josephine Wilson and Shonette Wilson defeated Sameera Hasan and Nanette Kiernan.
Johann Hunter defeated Chris Grasso in the over-45 men’s singles quarter-finals. Hunter lost the opening set before winning the second and securing victory in the match tie-break, 10-6.
