Munya & Furbert Shine At FHSAA Championships
Bermudian athletes Amaris Munya and Zydon Furbert contributed to a podium-placing performance for Montverde Academy at the FHSAA Class 2A Region 2 Championship. The Montverde girls’ track and field team secured its fifth consecutive regional title, while the boys’ team finished third overall in a field of 28 schools.
Munya earned three podium finishes during the meet. In the 800-meter run, she placed third with a time of 2:22.79. She also competed in two winning relay events, running the third leg of the 4×800-meter relay, which finished in 9:52.35, and serving as the anchor for the 4×400-meter relay team, which took first place in 3:49.39.
In the boys’ division, Furbert won the regional title in the 400-meter dash, recording a time of 48.20. He also competed in the 200-meter dash, where he placed fifth with a time of 22.17.
