Wesley Welcomes New Minister & New Name

Wesley Community Church announced the appointment of Revd Dr Conon [Kendell] Augustine Tanner-Ihm as their new minister and a new name to “better reflect our evolving mission and community.”

A spokesperson said, “Wesley Community Church [Wesley] is excited to announce the appointment of Revd Dr Conon [Kendell] Augustine Tanner-Ihm, OMS as its new minister, effective immediately. With a revitalised commitment to reconnecting the church with the Bermuda community and enhancing the worship experience, Dr. Tanner-Ihm is poised to lead a transformative era for the congregation.

“Dr. Tanner-Ihm brings a wealth of experience and passionate leadership to Wesley – a distinguished Afro-American minister, theologian, educator and activist, with extensive experience in public speaking and mentoring and holding multiple degrees along with studies at various tertiary education institutes. Dr. Tanner-Ihm has made a significant impact through his published articles and speaking engagements by addressing topics of inclusion, race, and spirituality across the globe.

“His commitment to justice and education is matched by his passion for travel, writing, and inspiring others to reach their potential. His vision for the future of Wesley, as shared by the church’s Official Board and congregation, is centered on fostering deeper connections between the church and its community, as well as creating an engaging and inspiring worship environment that appeals to individuals of all ages.

“The appointment comes on the heels of a year of thorough reflection and consultation among the church’s congregation, community members, and stakeholders. This collaborative effort culminated in a comprehensive five-year strategic plan aimed at revitalizing the church’s mission and outreach. The Official Board and various implementation teams have already begun executing this plan with dedication and enthusiasm, ensuring that the church’s new direction is both sustainable and impactful.”
