Alan and Sarah Frith have been declared the winners of the 2026 Edward Cross Long Distance Race following the disqualification of other competitors.

The annual Comet fleet race, held on the National Heroes Day holiday, saw sailors race from St. George’s to the West End. Following the conclusion of the race, a formal protest was lodged regarding a collision near the entrance of the Town Cut in St. George’s during the early stages of the event.

The protest involved defending champions Benn Smith and Christian Ebbin, who crossed the finish line first and Maxwell Curtis Jr. and Wesley Tucker, who crossed third,

Following a hearing at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, the protest committee ruled that both Smith and Curtis committed infractions during the collision, resulting in the disqualification of both boats.

The decision elevated Alan and Sarah Frith from second place to the overall victory.

The disqualifications also adjusted the remaining podium positions. Skipper Quinton Simmons and crew Zane Hendrickson moved into second place, while Joe and Ian Lauver of the United States were elevated to third place overall.
