Cindy Swan Welcomes Belize Cricket Team
The Belize cricket team received a warm welcome in Bermuda, with Cindy Swan helping to make the visitors feel at home as they traveled to the island to take part in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas Sub-Regional Qualifier.
Mrs Swan, the wife of MP Kim Swan, is originally from Belize and has been acting as the team’s unofficial hostess during its stay on the island.
“It is great having my fellow countrymen in my adopted Bermuda and I’ve tried to make them feel at home,” she told Bernews.
Belize opener Alexander Oxley starred with an unbeaten 80 off 63 balls, striking eight fours and a six as his side comfortably chased down Brazil’s total of 133. Oxley was named player of the match.
Oxley is the grandson of Kamela Palma, Belize’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom from 2008 to 2012.
“The win is truly gratifying and a morale boost for all of us,” Mrs Swan said. “I’m also excited to meet the ambassador, who is well known to my family in Belize.”
