Christopher Video Gets Over 12 Million Views
A performance by Bermudian Broadway star Nicholas Christopher has exploded across social media, with a video of his show-stopping vocals earning more than 12 million views [and counting] across TikTok and Instagram alone, with additional views on other social media platforms.
The TikTok video posted by the official Chess Broadway account — which shows him holding a note for approximately 20 seconds — has been viewed 6.9 million times, while also drawing more than 817,000 likes, 2,500 comments and 39,000 shares. A matching Instagram Reel by the official Chess account has 4.1 million views and 504,000 likes.
A second version of the video on the official Chess Instagram and TikTok accounts has over 2 million combined views, while his performance has also inspired user-generated content such as vocal coach reactions and memes of people using the sound on TikTok, with many drinking a beverage for the entire time he’s holding the note.
Christopher has earned several award nominations recently, including a prestigious Tony Award nomination for Best Leading Actor in a Musical for his performance, marking a major milestone in his very impressive career.
Christopher, the son of Town Crier Ed Christopher — something that has been mentioned in several of his interviews with international media — recently told Playbill that he is extremely proud to represent Bermuda on the world stage.
“Bermuda is a small little country. To be able to represent this beautiful, wonderful place where theatre and music and dancing and community is such a part of the culture…. Bermuda is everything. It’s who I am. It might be my name [on the nomination], but everybody’s coming with me,” he said.
