Gas-O-Rama Raises $20,500 For Charity
The 57th Annual Gas-o-Rama raised $20,500 for Compassionate Care Partners’ Help Us Grow campaign.
A spokesperson said, “The 57th Annual Gas-o-Rama, a collaboration between the Hamilton Lions Club and Terceira’s Service Stations, held on Saturday, February 28, raised $20,500 for Compassionate Care Partners [formerly known as Friends of Hospice] and its Help Us Grow capital campaign.
“From the early morning rush to the raffle draw at 6pm, the Bermuda community turned out in force, with proceeds from fuel sales and raffle ticket purchases going towards The Help Us Grow capital campaign fund.
“The Gas-o-Rama has been a cornerstone of Bermuda community life for more than half a century. The event was born in 1969 because of a bet made between the late Malcolm Terceira and Lions Club President Edward “Teddy” Chapman, and since its inception has raised over $1 million for local charities. This year, the two organizations selected Compassionate Care Partners as the 2026 beneficiary.”
Jennifer Mahoney, Executive Director of Compassionate Care Partners, stated, ”This was truly an extraordinary partnership and an unforgettable experience for our team. Working alongside two community partners dedicated to making a fundamental difference in our community. The synergies were fantastic and evident in the outcomes. The partnership and camaraderie made this effort even more meaningful.”
The spokesperson said, “This donation takes us one step closer to achieving our vision of building a self-sustaining dual-purpose Care Centre that offers exceptional medical, social, and spiritual support to its residents and their loved ones, meeting two significant needs in our community: elder care and hospice care.
“The funds raised will support the Help Us Grow campaign and the construction of the Woodland Grove Care Centre on Spice Hill Road, Warwick. When complete, the Care Centre will offer a range of community services -significantly expanding and improving the care options available to individuals and families across the island.
“Compassionate Care Partners extends its deepest gratitude to the Hamilton Lions Club, Terceira’s Service Stations, and every member of the community who supported the initiative.”
