Kathryn Mullen To Host Puppet Workshops

Kathryn Mullen will lead a five-week intensive course beginning June 25, guiding participants to “bring their puppet to life through puppeteering.”

The BNG website said, “Led by Kathryn Mullen, this 5 week course will take participants from pencil to puppet. In this course, participants will design a character, build a unique puppet, then bring their puppet to life through puppeteering.

“In 1980 Mullen became the third full-time female puppeteer at Jim Henson Productions. Mullen spent a decade at the company, during which time she performed various characters on The Muppet Show. When Fraggle Rock launched she took on the roles of Mokey Fraggle and Cotterpin Doozer. She assisted Frank Oz performing Yoda in Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and she performed Kira, the main female character, in Henson’s feature film The Dark Crystal (1982). Other key roles include the lead in Nickelodeon’s Allegra’s Window (1994) and Between the Lions Leona the lion cub.”
