Bermudian singer and actor Nicholas Christopher attended the Tony Awards in New York this weekend after earning a major nomination for ‘Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical.’

He was nominated for the highly prestigious award alongside Luke Evans for Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show, Sam Tutty for Two Strangers [Carry a Cake Across New York] and Brandon Uranowitz for Ragtime. The award was won by Joshua Henry for Ragtime.

In addition to the Tony Awards nomination, Christopher also received three other Award nominations this season, having earned nominations for an Outer Critics Circle Award and a Drama League Award , as well as a Dorian Theater Award nomination in the Outstanding Lead Performance in a Broadway Musical category.

Earlier this month, he appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show, where Kelly Clarkson said she was “blown away” by his performance in Chess, as they discussed his career, Tony Award nomination, and his father Ed Christopher, who serves as the Town Crier of the City of Hamilton.

Christopher’s performance has also drawn significant attention online, with a video of his vocals from Chess gaining more than 12 million views across TikTok and Instagram alone, with additional views on other social media platforms.

The Broadway star recently told Playbill that he is extremely proud to represent Bermuda on the world stage.

“Bermuda is a small little country. To be able to represent this beautiful, wonderful place where theatre and music and dancing and community is such a part of the culture…. Bermuda is everything. It’s who I am. It might be my name [on the nomination], but everybody’s coming with me,” he said.
