Food Review: Fire & Slice Breakfast
[Written by Vejay Steede]
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Well, in Bermuda, breakfast is also the most tantalizing meal of the day! We enjoy a decadent combination of all the best parts of traditional English and American breakfasts – with dashes of Caribbean and Mediterranean influence. Bermudians love breakfast – our national dish is traditionally served for breakfast on Sunday morning, so offering breakfast to Bermudians means making their day that much brighter; from early!
Fire & Slice has made this same analysis and come to the decision to offer a new breakfast menu that delivers fabulous flavours, voracious variety, and quite reasonable prices. From eggs benedict to Belgian waffles, whatever your favourite breakfast fare is, you can now grab it at Fire & Slice – and start your day with a smile.
Now, we know their pizza is class – and those garlic knots are simply sublime – so just think of the quality and variety they put into their pizza creations, and apply that to breakfast. Everything they offer is as good as you’ve ever eaten in Bermuda. Wait, let me say that again … if you love French toast, Fire & Slice will more than meet your expectations with their French toast. In short, their breakfast menu is as good, or better, than any such menu on offer at any similar food service establishment in Bermuda.
Scrumptious pancakes – I had the blueberry pancakes; try them! Mouthwatering wraps – including the Cheezoreto, with chorizo, which is super satisfying. Belgian waffles with your pick of buffalo fried chicken, applewood smoked bacon, sausages, or ham. Egg baskets and omelets with all the trimmings. Bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese. Sandwiches so good you’ll want to slap somebody. That creamy and luscious French toast. And much, much more – codfish and potatoes on Sunday, anyone?
This will all be available from 6.00am until 11.00am every single day. Go there with something in mind, because if you don’t, you may find yourself reading the menu and trying to decide for quite a while – the variety and quality is that good.
Even traditional offerings are customizable – try the eggs benedict with chorizo and onions instead of ham … your welcome. In fact, popular enhancements like avocado, chorizo, and smoked salmon can be added to a wide variety of the items on this innovative menu. So, if you like to experiment with flavours, Fire & Slice is got you.
Go check them out – the worst that can happen is that you get something delicious for breakfast, and that ain’t bad! Truly satisfying portions, decent prices, and downright indulgent dishes await you every day at Fire & Slice – don’t get there at 11.01am … lol.
Fire & Slice has built a menu that caters to traditional breakfast lovers, sandwich enthusiasts, and customers looking for something more substantial on the go.
Standout Items include:
Classic Eggs Benedict – two perfectly poached eggs on top of ham, or chorizo, and an English muffin, all smothered with a rich hollandaise sauce. The option to upgrade with smoked salmon adds a premium touch that elevates the dish beyond the standard breakfast menu.
Cheezoreto Wrap – scrambled eggs, bacon, chorizo, cheddar, potatoes, onions, and smoked paprika aioli. This is likely to become a customer favorite. It combines several breakfast staples into one hearty wrap that is expertly designed to keep you full well into the afternoon.
Wezoo Sandwich – one of the best values on the menu. Chorizo, scrambled eggs, fresh vegetables, and spicy chipotle on a house-baked baguette gives it a unique flavor profile compared to traditional breakfast sandwiches.
Cali Wrap – the smoked salmon, cream cheese, spinach, and lemon pepper aioli combination offers a more upscale breakfast option that isn’t commonly available at quick-service restaurants.
Pancakes & French Toast – the pancake and French toast offerings are generous and family-friendly. Fresh berries, banana toppings, powdered sugar, and thick-cut French toast are sure to make even the most discerning diner happy for the rest of the day!
Furthermore, given Bermuda’s food costs, the pricing feels competitive, particularly when you factor in smoked salmon, avocado, chorizo, house-baked breads, and substantial serving sizes.
Overall Rating: 9/10
Fire & Slice has put together a breakfast menu that feels thoughtful, substantial, and well executed. The food is fresh, the portions are generous, and the variety is broad enough to appeal to both traditional breakfast diners and customers looking for something more creative.
For a restaurant known primarily for pizza, this breakfast launch is surprisingly ambitious – and based on the menu and presentation, it has the potential to become one of the stronger breakfast offerings in the central parishes.
Fire & Slice’s breakfast menu feels like a genuine addition to Bermuda’s breakfast scene rather than simply an extension of its existing menu.
