Basketball: Turks & Caicos Defeat Bermuda
The Bermuda men’s national basketball team lost 76-61 to Turks and Caicos in the FIBA AmeriCup Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers.
Turks and Caicos opened a double-digit lead in the first quarter, outscoring Bermuda 20-10. Bermuda responded in the second period by outscoring Turks and Caicos 17-13, narrowing the deficit to 33-27 at halftime.
Turks and Caicos extended their lead in the third quarter by outscoring Bermuda 23-12. Bermuda won the final period 22-20, but could not overcome the point deficit.
Leigh-Jaelen Williams and Malachi Scott led the Bermudian offense with 13 points each. Adam McDonald scored 11 points, and Cameron Basden added 10 points.
Williams also recorded nine rebounds, while Scott finished with seven rebounds. Basden led Bermuda with three assists, and McDonald recorded a team-high five steals in the contest.
