Bermuda U20 Team Compete In ECVA Openers
Bermudian athletes Olivia Gazzard, Isabella Sousa, Daniel Morris, and Carter Lamb recorded contrasting results on the opening day of the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association Under-20 Beach Volleyball Championships at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort.
In the women’s division, Gazzard and Sousa finished the opening day undefeated. The Bermudian pair won their opening match against St. Martin’s Melissa Patrick and Lindi Beldman in straight sets, 21-11, 21-12.
Gazzard and Sousa won their second match of the day against Dominica’s Ciera-Kita Frederick and Delila Daniel, securing a 21-9, 21-15 victory.
In the men’s division, Morris and Lamb lost their opening match in three sets to Saint Vincent’s Damari Frederick and Dishawn Alexander. The Bermudian duo won the first set 21-17, but Saint Vincent took the second set 21-6 before winning the deciding third set 15-13.
Morris and Lamb lost their second match of the day in straight sets to Troy Shiwamber and Jedediah Pencheon by a score of 21-9, 21-9.
The tournament continues with the final round of pool play before advancing to the knockout stages.
