Bermuda U15 Team Head To Goombay Cup
The Bermuda Football Association has announced the Under-15 girls squad that will represent the island at the inaugural Goombay Cup in the Bahamas, where six nations will compete in the youth tournament.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Football Association [BFA] announces that we have accepted an Invitation to participate in the U15 Girls Goombay Cup in the Bahamas. The tournament is the brainchild of the Bahamas Football Association and will be held at the Roscow A.L. Davies Field in Nassau.
The Under 15 girls team that has departed for the Bahamas is:
- “Goalkeepers: Sydney Denkins, Kyra Simmons
- “Defenders: Ki’Ana Simmons, Leyana Williams, Marli Robinson, Me’lah WolffeRutherford, Phoenix Williams
- “Midfielders: Daisy Langley, Harper Franklin, Riley Khan, Kiara Deane, Xha ‘Tore Sawyers, Cataliah Pitcher- Place, Kierra Broadley-Samuels
- “Forwards: Nadia Medeiros, Mia DaPonte, Priya Dill, Leydi Raynor.”
“The tournament will feature U15 girls from Bermuda, Grenada, Turks and Caicos, US Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, and of course, hosts Bahamas. Head Coach Taznae Fubler will lead the team, and she had this to say about the tournament: “I have enjoyed working with the girls over the last three years, and we are grateful to the Bahamas Football Association for the opportunity. The tournament gives us vital competitive tournament match play as the girls take this important step in their development”.
