Cookies Inspired By Rattlesnake Search
A Bermuda store has added rattlesnake-themed cookies to its menu as the search for the elusive reptile continues.
The cookies were introduced after an eastern diamondback rattlesnake was reported seen in Southampton last month.
The snake has not yet been found despite an ongoing search.
Alicia Tucker, owner of The Tuck Shop, came up with the idea after watching a comedy post by social media personality Mr Fotogenik, who joked about becoming a rattlesnake catcher following news of the sighting.
“I commented on his post and said, ‘Rattlesnake cookies are incoming,” Ms Tucker told Bernews. “People liked my comment, and I thought maybe I could make light of a serious situation.
“I started making them on July 1 and will continue until the rattlesnake is found. People are still liking them. Each one is a piece of art!”
Ms Tucker said she recognised the situation was serious but hoped the decorated shortbread cookies would bring some humour while also raising awareness.
The rattlesnake cookies are available at The Tuck Shop’s locations in the Botanical Gardens and Southampton.
The most recent update from the Government said that a specialist team, supported by two dogs trained to detect the specific scent of rattlesnakes, will arrive in Bermuda to assist with the search.
While the cookies are very cute, a real life rattlesnake is a very serious matter, and officials have reminded people to not approach it if they see it and to please call 911.
