Corrections Officer Allegation Under Investigation
The Department of Corrections is investigating an allegation involving a corrections officer and an inmate.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Department of Corrections is aware of an allegation involving a Corrections Officer and an inmate. The matter is being treated seriously and is subject to an ongoing internal investigation.
“The Department is also aware that the officer in question has been charged with Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm, has been granted bail, and appeared in court on Monday, 6 July, to answer the charge.
“As this matter is now before the courts, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”
