Premier Burt Marks U.S. Independence Day
Premier David Burt extended Independence Day greetings to the United States, highlighting the longstanding friendship and historical ties between Bermuda and the U.S.
Premier Burt said, “Happy 250th Birthday to the United States of America! Earlier this week, Kristin and I attended a reception marking Independence Day celebrations, where I had the honour of offering a toast on behalf of the Government and people of Bermuda. Bermuda and America have shared a closely connected history since long before 1776, and we look forward to many more years of friendship and partnership.
“And to our friends in the USA, you are welcome for the gunpowder,” the Premier added in his Instagram post, using the ‘wink’ emoji, making a light-hearted reference to the gunpowder plot of 1775.
