Jodi Lewis Announces Georgia State Campaign
Jodi Lewis has announced her campaign for Georgia State House District 118.
A spokesperson said, “Jodi Lewis, a U.S.-born candidate with deep Bermudian roots, today announced her campaign for Georgia State House of Representatives, District 118. If elected, Lewis would become the first Bermudian to serve in the Georgia State House—an achievement she says is grounded in her family heritage and the years she spent growing up and being educated in Bermuda.
“Lewis was born in the United States to her mother, Althea Winifred, a Bermudian, and father, Larry Covington, and proudly carries her Bermudian family legacy. Lewis is the niece of Gregory Allan and Mildred Hunt, as well as Linda and T. Wayne Hodgson, and the granddaughter of the late Ronald and Irma Smith. She traces her family roots to Crawl, on My Lord’s Bay Lane, a place she describes as central to her identity and upbringing.”
“I’m American by birth, and Bermudian by blood and upbringing,” Ms. Lewis said. “Bermuda shaped the woman I am. It’s where my values were formed, where I learned excellence and resilience, and where my family’s legacy lives.”
The spokesperson said, “Lewis attended Francis Patton Primary School, Harrington Sound Primary, and the Bermuda Institute, and credits her years on the island as pivotal in building the discipline and confidence that later helped her launch her career in business and public advocacy. She founded her first company in Bermuda and later expanded her work internationally, ultimately building a communications and marketing firm that has earned recognition both nationally and abroad.
“Lewis holds advanced graduate education, including two master’s degrees, and has been recognized with multiple professional awards. She is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and has spent years supporting community initiatives focused on justice, public safety, and protecting everyday people.
“A key part of Lewis’s record includes leading tenant-safety advocacy and working with legislators to help advance real policy change—efforts connected to changes in tenant-safety laws across Florida, Nevada, and Virginia. Lewis says this experience reinforced her belief that government can work for everyday families when leaders are prepared, persistent, and willing to build coalitions to get results.”
“With everything happening in the world, people are exhausted by division and distracted leadership,” Ms. Lewis said. “I want to be a voice for the unheard—grounded in service, focused on solutions, and committed to representing people with integrity. And I want Bermuda to feel proud seeing one of its own step forward and serve at a high level.”
The spokesperson said, “Lewis noted that Bermudians have long traveled abroad to pursue education, opportunity, and service—and she hopes to add her candidacy to the growing story of Bermudians achieving what others once said could not be done.”
“I’m excited to join the long list of Bermudians who carried Bermuda with them wherever they went—and brought honor back home through what they built,” she added.
The spokesperson said, “Lewis is asking Bermudians and friends of Bermuda to support the campaign by following and sharing her official campaign platforms:
