Tennis: Simons And Mallory Advance In Boca
Bermuda tennis players Tariq Simons and Trey Mallory both advanced on the opening day of the Battle of Boca wildcard tournament in Boca Raton, Florida.
The winner of the men’s event will receive a main-draw wildcard into the ITF M15 ATC Open in Asunción, Paraguay.
Simons played twice on the opening day, defeating Mexico’s Juan Pablo Lopez 6-3, 6-4 in the round of 64.
He returned to the court in the round of 32, where he defeated American London Vasilescu 7-6, 6-4 to advance.
Mallory, the tournament’s third seed, received an opening-round bye before facing Chile’s Maximo Quiñonez in the round of 32.
The Bermudian recorded a 6-2, 6-3 victory, sending both Mallory and Simons through to the next stage of the tournament.
