BPS Welcomes Applications For Constables

Applications are being accepted for the Bermuda Police Service’s next Recruit Foundation Course.

A police spokesperson said, “Applications are invited for the post of Police Constable within the Bermuda Police Service [BPS].  The BPS has several opportunities for applicants seeking a career in law enforcement, representing the community, and contributing to our mission of ‘Making Bermuda Safer.’

“Successful applicants must pass the following evaluations to be considered for the Recruit Foundation Course [RFC]:

  • Police Service Initial Recruitment Test [PIRT]
  • Job-Related Fitness Test [JRFT] – Level 5.4 [15 metre beep test]
  • Security Checks
  • Suitability Testing
  • Psychological Evaluation
  • Medical Examination [including BMI Assessment]
  • Assessment Board

Eligibility Requirements

  • “Bermuda School Certificate [BSC] or an equivalent qualification demonstrating successful completion of secondary education.
  • “18 years of age and no older than 49 years of age at the commencement of the contract.
  • “Physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of a Police Constable, as determined through the required medical and psychological assessments.
  • “Demonstrate a level of proficiency in the English language sufficient to meet the academic, operational, written and verbal communication requirements of the Recruit Foundation Course and the duties of a Police Constable.

“Non-Bermudian applicants who are permitted by the Department of Immigration to work or seek employment in Bermuda may also be considered for recruitment, provided that they have been ordinarily resident in Bermuda for a minimum of three years.
