Ten Students Conclude Butterfield Internship
Butterfield announced the successful conclusion of its 2026 Summer Internship programme, which provided 10 Bermudian students pursuing an undergraduate degree with an opportunity to gain direct experience and knowledge in the world of finance.
A spokesperson said, “Designed to introduce participants to the day-to-day operations of a leading financial institution, the annual programme offered structured learning, professional development, and practical experience across several business areas. This year’s interns were placed in different areas of the business including retail, corporate and private banking, asset management, consumer credit, card services and human resources.
“The students in this year’s cohort were Brianna Benevides, Dalhousie University and 2023 Butterfield Undergraduate Scholar; Jeriel Fernandes, University of Liverpool and 2025 Butterfield Undergraduate Scholar; Jenna Ferreira, St. Mary’s University; Jamir Hatherley, Bermuda College; Malachi Henry, Loughborough College; Joshua Lipschutz, Wake Forest University; Alexia Pascall, Mount Saint Vincent; Ayesha Payne, Bournemouth University; Rhys Swift, University of North Carolina; and Kandell Trott, Nottingham Trent University.”
The 10-strong cohort who completed the summer internship programme at Butterfield are Malachi Henry, Jeriel Ferreira, Joshua Lipschutz, Brianna Benevides, Jamir Hatherley, Ayesha Payne, Kandell Trott, Rhys Swift, Jenna Ferreira and Alexia Pascall.

As they return to their studies, we hope the experience has strengthened their confidence and broadened their understanding of the opportunities available within the financial sector.”
Denneeka Crockwell, Vice President, Human Resources in Bermuda, said, “Our interns should feel incredibly proud of the contributions they made during their time with us this summer. A highlight was the ‘Investing and Financial Wellbeing Fair’, which was organised and hosted by the interns as part of a collaborative project.
“The event was a great success featuring interactive booths, insightful panels, and activities that helped demonstrate key financial concepts such as investing fundamentals, risk management, and personal financial wellbeing.”
