Compassionate Care Expands Vision Programme
Compassionate Care Partners, formerly known as Friends of Hospice, said that their collaboration with Vision Bermuda has now entered its second programming rotation after a successful introduction in April.
A spokesperson said, “The programme was created to provide access of its long-established Connections Programme to individuals navigating vision loss.
“The Connections Programme supports the emotional and social wellbeing of people living with serious or life‑limiting conditions. Vision loss and serious illness can each be deeply isolating, and when a person is living with either or both, the need for human connection becomes even more profound.”
“We are extremely excited about this new partnership and the opportunity to learn more about and support those members of our community that are impacted by varying degrees of vision loss. People should not have social biases placed upon them because of any diagnosis and hopefully programmes such as this one are a reminder to the participants of their value despite their diagnosis,” said Jennifer Mahoney, Executive Director of Compassionate Care Partners.
A spokesperson added, “Through this collaboration, Vision Bermuda clients have access to music therapy and recreational activities in a safe, nurturing, and non-judgmental environment. The programme is offered at no cost to participants to ensure equitable access for all that wish to attend. Research consistently shows that social connection and creative engagement can significantly enhance quality of life for those facing serious illness or disability.”
