Dr. Brown’s Institute Earns VTCT Accreditation
Dr. Kyjuan H. Brown’s Institute of Health Sciences has become a VTCT Skills Approved Centre, marking a major milestone that brings internationally recognized trichology qualifications to Bermuda while expanding professional education opportunities.
A spokesperson said, “Growing up in Back of Town, Dr. Kyjuan H. Brown understood firsthand that education has the power to change lives. Today, that belief has come full circle.
“Dr. Brown’s Institute of Health Sciences [DBIHS] has officially become a VTCT Skills Approved Centre, authorizing the Institute to deliver the VTCT Skills [ITEC] Level 4 Certificate in Trichology for Hairdressers—an internationally recognized qualification awarded by VTCT Skills and regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation [Ofqual], the UK Government’s independent regulator responsible for maintaining educational quality and standards.
“The achievement represents a significant milestone for both the Institute and Bermuda, placing DBIHS among a network of more than 700 approved centres across over 40 countries authorized to deliver internationally recognized vocational qualifications.
“For Dr. Brown, however, the accreditation is about much more than institutional recognition.
“It demonstrates that a young man who grew up in one of Bermuda’s most modest communities can build an educational institution that meets internationally recognized standards and creates opportunities for people around the world.”

“Now, that same commitment to lifelong learning is creating new opportunities for others.
“As a VTCT Skills Approved Centre, DBIHS is authorized to deliver the VTCT Skills [ITEC] Level 4 Certificate in Trichology for Hairdressers, an advanced qualification that prepares professionals with knowledge in hair and scalp science, consultation, nutrition, cosmetic chemistry, and evidence-informed trichology services.
“Unlike many private certifications, VTCT Skills qualifications are regulated by Ofqual, ensuring they meet rigorous national standards for quality assurance, assessment, and learner outcomes within the United Kingdom’s regulated qualifications framework.
“The Institute welcomes professionals from a wide range of industries, including hairdressers, barbers, braiders, salon owners, trichologists, aestheticians, nurses, physicians, pharmacists, wellness professionals, hair restoration specialists, and entrepreneurs seeking to expand their knowledge and service offerings.”
