Public Town Hall To Discuss Phase 2 Housing
The Ministry of Housing and Municipalities will host a public town hall on August 20 to present proposed Phase 2 affordable housing projects and gather community feedback.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Housing and Municipalities will host a public town hall meeting at St. Paul AME Church Centennial Hall on Court Street in Hamilton on August 20 to engage with the public on the proposed Phase 2 affordable housing projects and seek community feedback.
“The meeting forms part of the Government’s ongoing commitment to transparency, community engagement, and the delivery of sustainable housing solutions to meet Bermuda’s growing housing needs.
“During the session, Ministry representatives and technical officers will provide an overview of the proposed Bermuda Housing Corporation [BHC] and Bermuda Land Management Corporation [BLMC] site developments contemplated for:
- 13 Ewing Street, City of Hamilton
- Harborview, St. David’s
- Ocean View, Warwick
- Tudor Hill, Southampton
- Maria Hill, Sandys
Minister of Housing and Municipalities Zane DeSilva explained, “Affordable housing remains a priority for this Government, and we recognise that successful housing developments require meaningful engagement with the communities they will serve. This community meeting provides an important opportunity to share information about the proposed Phase 2 projects, answer questions, and hear directly from residents and stakeholders as the proposals continue to be developed. We want to ensure that communities are kept informed and have an opportunity to contribute as we work to increase the supply of quality, affordable housing across Bermuda.”
A Government spokesperson added, “The meeting will run from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will feature a presentation followed by a question-and-answer session regarding the proposed Phase 2 affordable housing projects.
“The Ministry encourages residents of the communities where developments are proposed, neighbouring areas, and all interested members of the public to attend this important discussion and contribute to the future of affordable housing in Bermuda.”

So, the PLP Government has decided to spend hundreds of millions of dollars we do not have in order to replace housing stock it has allowed to be depleted.
And as I have said many times, after being threatened by “security” for asking a question, I will not be attending another PLP town hall meeting.
That is tomorrow!! Isn’t it possible to get more notice of these important Town Halls? Will there be others held after tomorrow?
These are not discussion meetings. These are presentation meetings showing the very minimal needed to be known of decisions already made by the beneficiaries of these projects.
If you miss the meetings, no worries, nothing will change because of anything said from the floor.
“nothing will change because of anything said from the floor”
Except the feeling of safety of anyone who dares ask a question the PLP Government does not like!
