Romeo & Juliet Set To Open On August 29
Devil’s Isle Shakespeare Co. will open its third Bermuda season with a special production of Romeo & Juliet on August 29 at the Bermuda Amphitheatre at Riddell’s Bay Gardens & Nature Reserve.
A spokesperson said, “Devil’s Isle Shakespeare Co. is pleased to announce the opening night celebration of Romeo & Juliet at the Bermuda Amphitheatre on August 29th, 2026. This will be the inaugural event for the Amphitheatre, which is located inside the Riddell’s Bay Gardens & Nature Reserve in Warwick.
“The production features a talented cast of Bermudian and American performers who will create a unique experience for locals, visitors, and schoolchildren. Devil’s Isle Shakespeare Company is a professional, international theatre featuring Bermudian and American actors. All their productions are free for local students and schools.
“This production features original music co-authored by a Bermudian musician, Christina Frith, the company’s Artistic Director, Séamus Miller, and the Resident Music Director, Emily Erickson. Erickson and Miller wrote the musical score for last year’s production of The Tempest, which played to sold out crowds across Bermuda.
“This special event will begin with drinks at 6:00pm followed by an assortment of canapés and food stations. Dessert will be offered during intermission. In the event of rain, the performance will be rescheduled to Saturday, September 5. Parking will be available on site.
“This is the third season for Devil’s Isle in Bermuda and their first time performing as the resident company of the newly constructed amphitheatre. Throughout September, they will be continuing their outreach to the island’s public and private school students through additional performances at Riddell’s Bay—all free of charge to the students. Ticket purchases for this event support these accessible, world-class, theatrical experiences for our young people and create opportunities for aspiring Bermudian actors to pursue their careers at a professional level.
