‘The Woman At The Well’ Auditions Announced
Noire Youth Theatre Company will hold auditions and crew interviews on July 17 and 18 for its upcoming production of “The Woman at the Well,” which is scheduled for October 8 to 11 at the Ruth Seaton James Centre for the Performing Arts.
A spokesperson said, “Noire Youth Theatre Company is thrilled to announce upcoming auditions, crew interviews and vendor opportunities for their theatrical production of ‘The Woman at the Well,’ a bold, modern, fictitious adaptation of Rev. Georgette Prime Godwin’s book, “The Woman at the Well,” a timeless biblical story.
“The setting of the production begins in Guyana mid-1900’s and transports us to Bermuda in 1904. It is a vibrant, historical yet contemporary presentation – a powerful production complimented with music and dance that explores the importance of historical truth as it pertains to your family. It gives cause for thought before engaging in intimate relationships which could lead to the birth of extended families, and all the implications that accompany the new births. It begs the question, no matter your age, ‘What are you thirsty for?’
“Auditions and production crew interviews will take place this week Friday, July 17th from 5:30-8:00 p.m and Saturday, July 18th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Audition Applications are embedded in the QR Codes located on our poster. You can select a time for your audition and return the form. Auditions will be held in the Bermuda Union of Teachers’ Board Room located on Church street, upper level of the building adjacent to The Children’s library and Joell’s Alley. Signage will guide you to the location.
“Call backs and casting announcements will be held on Friday July 24th between 5:30 and 8:30 where we will issue and discuss rehearsal schedules. Rehearsals begin on August 5th. The production will be held at the Ruth Seaton James Center for Performing Arts from Oct 8th to 11th. Call Patricia Nesbitt on 703-6248 if you have any questions or email noiretheatrecompany@gmail.com.
“The Woman at the Well reimagines the historic encounter as we are driving it with the inclusion of original music of varying genres to set the tone for the varying scenes. RnB, Gospel, Jazz and Reggae music is being explored.
“The story follows the ‘cursed’ history of a family of women through five generations of growth and economic development whose life experiences are repeated from generation to generation, but ends with the hope stemming from questions from the youngest in the family. It begs this question for all humans to answer, ‘What are you thirsty for?’”
