Tynes Bay Incident Impacts Some Waste Services
A small fire at the Tynes Bay Facility has temporarily halted commercial waste intake and disrupted garbage collections in parts of the West End and Southampton.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Public Works and Environment advises that the Tynes Bay Facility is temporarily unable to receive commercial waste for the remainder of today due to a small fire. The situation is under control and Fire Services are on site.
“As a result, garbage collections scheduled for parts of the West End and Southampton were not completed today however collection crews will prioritise these collections tomorrow. The public drop-off area remains open at this time. Further updates will be provided as necessary.”
