Arcadian Names Matthew Mullen Executive VP
Arcadian Risk Capital has appointed Matthew Mullen as Executive Vice President to lead its expansion into the U.S. Enterprise Casualty market, supported by multi-year underwriting capacity.
A spokesperson said, “Arcadian Risk Capital [“Arcadian”], a rapidly growing specialty managing general agent [“MGA”] with operations in Bermuda, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the United States, today announced the appointment of Matthew Mullen as Executive Vice President. Matthew will lead Arcadian’s expansion into the U.S. Enterprise Casualty market. In support of the launch, Arcadian has secured multi-year underwriting capacity for the new business.
“Matthew brings over 35 years of underwriting experience and a strong track record of building and managing profitable portfolios in the U.S. specialty insurance market. Based in New York, he will focus on developing Arcadian’s presence in the Enterprise risk market, working across retail distribution channels and leveraging his longstanding broker relationships. The account will be structured as excess in terms of risk characteristic and spread across multiple risk sectors.
“Matthew joins Arcadian from Markel where he most recently served as Managing Director, Specialty Insurance. Prior to that, he held senior underwriting positions with Alterra, XL and Munich Re.”
John Boylan, Chief Executive Officer of Arcadian, said: “We are very pleased to have Matt join Arcadian and lead this new initiative. He brings a deep understanding of the market, strong distribution relationships and, importantly, an underwriting philosophy that is highly aligned with ours. His experience and reputation will be valuable as we establish and grow this business, while continuing to maintain the disciplined approach that underpins Arcadian’s underwriting strategy.”
Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Mullen said: “I am excited to join Arcadian and build this business as part of a platform with a strong underwriting culture and a clear commitment to long-term growth. Arcadian provides an attractive combination of experienced leadership, strong market relationships and the flexibility to develop a differentiated underwriting proposition. I look forward to working with the team to establish a high-quality and sustainable portfolio in the U.S. market.”
A spokesperson added, “The appointment represents another step in the continued development of the Arcadian platform, which in January 2026 received a growth investment from Lee Equity Partners, LLC, a growth-oriented, middle-market investment firm specializing in the financial and healthcare services sectors.”
