Bermuda College will offer a three-day Developing Executive Leadership programme from September 23 to 25, aimed at “bridging potential professional development gaps that can arise once people reach senior management.”

A spokesperson said, “The island’s senior executives and managers will have an opportunity to sharpen their leadership skills through a three-day development programme being offered at Bermuda College.

“The Developing Executive Leadership programme will be run at the College’s APACE division from September 23 to 25.

“It is aimed at bridging potential professional development gaps that can arise once people reach senior management, despite the demands placed on executives to make strategic decisions, lead teams and set direction for their organisations.

“Participants in the course will receive a prestigious American Management Association [AMA] certificate, validating their executive-level development.

“Carleen Place, the programme lead at APACE, said continuing professional development was as important at executive level as at any other stage of a career.

“Reaching an executive position does not mean professional development stops. In many ways, that is when continuing to develop as a leader becomes even more important.

“Senior leaders are expected to see the bigger picture while making difficult decisions, communicating effectively and creating an environment in which their teams can perform.

“This programme gives executives an opportunity to step away from the day-to-day demands of their roles and focus deliberately on how they lead.”

The spokesperson said, “Delivered live online, the programme focuses on the competencies required for effective executive leadership, including developing an individual leadership style, building effective teams, strengthening decision-making skills and improving the ability to lead and motivate others.

“Ms Place added: “Bermuda College has an important role in ensuring professional development is available at every stage of a career, including at the most senior levels.

“Executive development is not only an investment in the individual. Strong leadership has an impact across an organisation, which is why we also want HR professionals and those supporting C-suite executives to consider where this type of development fits within their organisation.”

“The course will run live online from 11am to 7pm. For more information, contact apace@college.bm or visit www.college.bm.”
