Cardwell And Toronto Secure Victory Over York
Bermudian Lauren Cardwell’s University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team defeated the York Lions 1–0 in their home opener at Back Campus Fields.
Second-year forward Catalina Meilleur scored the only goal in the 52nd minute, beating York goalkeeper Ella Ciesielski. The Calgary native took her tally to three goals in Toronto’s opening two matches of the season.
Defenders Maggie Mullins, Kirsten D’Silva and Jada Mendonca contributed to the victory, alongside second-year players Lisa van der Knaap and Danielle D’Silva.
Goalkeeper Mary Yang recorded her second clean sheet of the season, following Toronto’s opening victory in Hamilton.
