Cyclists Competing In Green Mountain Criterium
Bermuda cyclist Zander Miller won the Men’s Category 3 King of the Mountains classification and the final-stage criterium at the Green Mountain Stage Race in Vermont.
Nine Bermuda riders competed across five categories at the four-day event, held from September 4 to 7, which featured a time trial, circuit race, road race and criterium.
Representing Winners Edge, Miller collected 22 points in the mountains classification, finishing four points ahead of runner-up Patrick Muto. He won both designated climbs on stage two before placing second and fourth at the intermediate climbs on stage three.
Miller placed 25th in the time trial, 18th in the circuit race and 23rd in the road race before winning the closing criterium in Burlington. He finished 15th overall in 6hr 37min 19sec, 4min 28sec behind the overall winner.
His 19 sprint points on the final day also secured third place in the sprint classification. Fellow Category 3 rider Dominique Mayho, representing VT Construction, finished third in the stage-two circuit race and fifth in the sprint classification with nine points and placed 42nd overall.
Bicycle Works rider Che’Quan Richardson finished 67th in the time trial, 66th in the circuit race and 64th in the road race.
In the Men’s Pro/1/2 division, Nicholas Narraway finished 12th overall for Competitive Edge Racing. His cumulative time of 8hr 3min 42sec left him 2min 45sec behind the winner.
Narraway placed 21st in the time trial, eighth in the circuit race, 26th in the road race and 40th in the criterium. His team-mates Ryan Drummond and Andrew Strohmeyer finished first and second in the final stage.
VT Construction riders Pansy Olander and Charlotte Millington finished 46th and 49th overall, respectively, in the Women’s Pro/1/2/3 division. Olander placed 26th in the circuit race and 22nd in the criterium, while Millington’s highest stage placing was 41st in the road race.
In the junior division, Jacob Wright finished 88th overall and Dylan Eiselt placed 90th. Eiselt finished 57th in the closing criterium.
Steve Millington also competed, finishing 33rd in the opening time trial in the combined Masters 50+/60+ field.
