Shantia Berkeley & Durham Win Campus Cup
Bermudian footballer Shantia Berkeley and her Durham College teammates secured a 1-0 victory over cross-campus rivals Ontario Tech to capture the Campus Cup at Vaso’s Field.
Playing in front of a record crowd of more than 2,000 spectators, Durham battled through a goalless first half before breaking the deadlock early in the second half.
Daelynn Tulloch sent a direct free kick on target from outside the penalty box, forcing a save from the Ontario Tech goalkeeper. Erin Michalicka capitalized on the rebound, scoring from close range to put Durham ahead.
The Durham defense held firm for the remaining 40 minutes to preserve the clean sheet and claim the title for the second time in three seasons.
