Madison B Hosts Caribbean Music Event In UK
Bermudian artist and social media influencer Madison B hosted an event in London celebrating Caribbean women in music.
The invitation-only “Locked In with Madison B” event was held at The Beat in London through a collaboration between Girls I Rate and Nando’s.
According to a post-event report by Mixtape Madness, the programme brought together emerging artists, DJs and creatives for an evening of live music, food and Caribbean culture.
Other performers included Monifa Goss and The SunDivas, while DJ EMZ, DJ Ambra Andela and DJ Versatile provided music spanning R&B, Amapiano, dancehall and bouyon.
Complex previewed the event earlier in August, reporting that the concept developed from a studio conversation between Madison B and Girls I Rate founder Carla Marie Williams about establishing a women-led Caribbean music event.
Ms Williams said the initiative was designed to spotlight emerging artists, DJs, producers, dancers and other creatives while providing opportunities for women to connect.
Madison B said ahead of the event, “I’m so excited to be doing this Nando’s summer takeover and repping for the Caribbean girlies!”
The event promotion said, “Fresh off the release of her first EP ‘Who’s British?’, Madison is putting her Bermudian roots, British experience and Caribbean influences into the music, while doing it completely her own way.”
