Basketballer Ralph Scott To Have Knee Surgery
Bermudian basketball player Ralph Scott will be sidelined for the next few months as he is set to undergo surgery to repair an injured left knee, the University of Tennessee announced.
The 18-year-old, 6ft 8in freshman joined the Volunteers from IMG Academy in Florida ahead of the 2026-27 NCAA Division I season.
Tennessee men’s basketball head coach Rick Barnes said, “Ralph was really looking forward to beginning his college career in a few weeks and we were excited to see him on the court competing for the Volunteers. However, it is important he gets healthy and this surgery will help him do just that.
“We will be there for Ralph to support him throughout his recovery process. Ralph is extremely talented and we remain enthusiastic about his bright future on Rocky Top.”
Scott committed to Tennessee in September 2025 after also receiving offers from Texas A&M University, the University of Houston and Purdue University.
The Bermudian was ranked among the leading prospects in the 2026 recruiting class after developing at IMG Academy and was selected for the Team World roster at the 2026 Iverson Classic 24K Showcase.
Speaking to Bernews in July about his forthcoming NCAA Division I debut season, Scott said his immediate goals included remaining healthy, continuing to develop and establishing himself as an impactful member of the Tennessee team.
