A spokesperson said, “Hosted by Tammy Richardson‑Augustus [LLB [Hons] 1996], the Bermuda gathering brought together alumni from different generations to reconnect, strengthen professional and personal networks, and celebrate their shared Bristol experience.

“The event formed part of a worldwide series of alumni gatherings marking 150 years since University College Bristol first opened its doors. This milestone year also commemorates the opening of the University’s new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus [TQEC] in Bristol and the Mumbai Enterprise Campus in India.

“The significance of the new TQEC extends well beyond bricks and mortar. Described by the University as the most significant development in its history, the campus has been designed as a gateway to the city and a place where students, researchers, businesses and communities can collaborate to address real‑world challenges and drive innovation.

“Guests reflected on Bristol’s impact on their careers and lives, as well as the enduring friendships forged during their years at the University.

“Although unable to attend owing to a longstanding commitment, Wendell Hollis, believed to have been the first Bermudian to read law at Bristol, shared reflections on the profound influence the University had on his life and career. Mr Hollis studied at Bristol from 1971 to 1974, while also rowing and playing rugby for the University. After graduating, he moved to London to complete his Bar examinations, finishing sixth out of more than 3,000 candidates. He credits that remarkable achievement in large measure to the academic rigour, discipline and preparation he received during his years at Bristol.

“Mr Hollis’ connection with Bristol has endured for more than five decades. Mr Hollis remains an active member of the Bristol University Rugby Club and has hosted visits to Bermuda by both the club and the University’s women’s field hockey team.”

Speaking after the event, Ms Richardson‑Augustus said, “It was a pleasure to bring together Bristol alumni in Bermuda as part of this important milestone year. The evening reflected the enduring strength of the University’s global community and the value we place on staying connected. It was especially meaningful to trace the story of Bermudians at Bristol across the generations, from pioneering alumni to more recent graduates, and to recognise the diverse paths they have pursued since leaving the University.”

The University is ranked among the Top 10 universities in the United Kingdom and 51st globally in the QS World University Rankings 2026, is recognised as a Top 5 UK university for research, and is the fifth most targeted university by leading UK employers. These distinctions continue to reinforce Bristol’s reputation as one of the world’s foremost centres of learning and research.

“Among those attending the Bermuda gathering were Monica Dunstan, Joshes Scott‑Millett, McKenzie Tuckett, Jennifer Panchaud, Gary Knight, Lakila Spencer, Pamela Ferreira, Denielle Dunn, Dr Ashley Thompson and Nathan Figueiredo.
