Habitat for Humanity Bermuda is recognizing its growing partnership with the Bermuda Police Service [BPS], whose officers and staff have contributed through financial support and volunteer work.

A spokesperson said, “Habitat for Humanity Bermuda is pleased to recognize a growing partnership with the Bermuda Police Service [BPS], whose officers and staff have supported the organization through both financial generosity and hands-on volunteer service.

“At the Police Ball held on October 10th at the Hamilton Princess, BPS presented Habitat for Humanity Bermuda Executive Director Sandra Christensen with a cheque for $10,000. The funds were collected from officers and staff across the Service and will support Habitat Bermuda’s work to help local families and individuals achieve safer, more secure living conditions.”

Ms. Christensen said, “The BPS donation is especially meaningful because it reflects personal contributions from the dedicated men and women of the Service. Habitat Bermuda and the BPS often support the same people through our shared commitment to strengthening the community, making this partnership especially important.”

The spokesperson said, “The partnership continued on October 20, when a BPS volunteer team worked at a Habitat client’s home to paint the exterior and complete landscaping. The team was led by Deputy Commissioner Na’imah Astwood, with additional contributions from the Department of Works and Engineering.”

Deputy Commissioner Astwood commented “The work we carried out during the BPS volunteer day alongside staff from the Department of Works and Engineering also builds on our ever-growing partnerships within the community. Our efforts reflect the very best of our motto, Making Bermuda Safer, and demonstrates the care that the men and women of the BPS have for the people we serve.”

“Habitat for Humanity Bermuda extends its sincere appreciation to the officers and staff who contributed to the $10,000 collection, to Deputy Commissioner Astwood and the volunteer team, and to Works and Engineering for supporting the improvement project.

“Habitat Bermuda looks forward to building on this partnership and working alongside BPS on future initiatives that strengthen homes, neighbourhoods and the wider community.”
